This large village with approx. 6,000 inhabitants lies approx. 10 miles west of Girne ('Kyrenia') on the northern slopes of the 'Five-Finger' mountain range. It extends from the coast road to the part of the village known as Baspinar, high up in the mountains.

The view from up there over the coastlineis breathtaking. The village is dominated by an old monastery which has been turned into an hotel. Numerous shops offer anything you may need on a day-to-day basis, and there are a number of restaurants offering simple fare at reasonable prices. Food shops are open every day.

Minibus services to Girne or Güzelyurt are available every few minutes. The fare to Girne is approx. £ 0.35.
